Come to our grand opening
and Family Fun weekend
June 19, 2010

Winter is almost a memory and the Maritime Museum will open May 30, 2010--stay tuned

Good News however...
The Coastal Children's Museum

                                  is open year around!

In spite of a rainy summer 2009,  we had a very successful and exciting first season.  Now we are hunkered down 'til Spring breaks and preparing for great events to come.
...
In 2009 our Flagship "Rekord" had been doing harbor
tours and we hope for more this season.  They are free! Join us and see Rockland Harbor, its seals, porpoises, birds and lighthouses.  Sharpies "Lobstah" Shack will be dishing out
the finest, fullest, flamboyant lobster rolls imaginable.  Bring your appetite and try 'em.

We are puttering away this winter building new displays preparing for a grand and exciting opening for 2010, our second season.

Be sure to stay tuned for museum presentations of our educational
lecture series coming up in 2010.
Here are some of the many changes we accomplished over the last year.....

The conference room has been enlarged to include a large library and serving kitchen. We can accommodate over a hundred people for lectures and musical performances. The rooms have many displays of the old ship building and fishing industry and beautiful and intricate models of the great sailing vessels.

You have to see it to believe it.

Sharpie's "Lobstah" Shack had hosted several successful Fundraising Schooner-style Lobster Bakes in the 2009 season that benefited the Sail, Power and Steam Museum. The critters, near a hundred of them, were cooked over a huge bonfire, in an enormous pot, with a grand parcel of clams and corn on the cob, and we sat around with a little wine, toasting marshmallows and listening to bluegrass foot-tapping music. . The shores of the harbor at Sharp's Point South haven't seen such revelry since the good ol' days!  We will be serving scrumptious shore dinners on a regular basis and we also have the most lushes char-burgers, hot and juicy from our grill. Check out the complete menu on Sharpies page!
